This week marked the conclusion of a special annual project of Contributing to the Community with the participation of children from the Tirosh and Itzhar Kindergartens of the Bavli District in Tel-Aviv. The project was initiated by Beit Daniel with the aim of introducing the concept of charity to the children.
The participating kindergartens were asked to choose an area of interest for which contributions would be collected. Original donation boxes were to be designed with the specific recipient population in mind. The kindergarten teachers presented various options to the children who chose to contribute to the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Israel. It was apparent to the teachers that many of the children love animals and have their own pets, some of which were adopted from the Society.
At the opening of the school year, a special “New Month Ceremony” was held in the presence of a representative from the Society. The representative announced the beginning of the Project, and told the children about the Society and its activities. During the year, various activities associated with animals were held and each month the two kindergartens got together for the New Month Ceremonies where the children put their donations into the impressive savings boxes that they had prepared.
This week the final ceremony of the Project was held. The children performed the songs and dances that they had rehearsed for this occasion and took part in a quiz about animals. The excited children welcomed the representatives of the Society with great enthusiasm and proudly presented their full collection boxes to the Chairman of the Society, Ms. Hilma Shmoshkovitz. The total collected reached almost NIS 700. This money will be used for the care of young, abandoned puppies who are looked after in the Puppies Section of the Society till they reach the age of three months.
We wish to convey our heartfelt thanks to the kindergarten children, their parents and their teachers – Sharona Israel Alter, Carmit Lurie Rosen, Mor Ben-Tal, Hagit Mordoch and Tzippy Ashkenazi – for this most welcome initiative and for their enthusiastic cooperation.
