What type of fur?

A research by the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Israel and Television Network Channel

This week a special investigative report was published, in which it was revealed that synthetic fur that was created for Israeli fashion companies in fact included fur from animals.

Suspicions were aroused in the wake of referrals from people who visited the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Israel. These people reported that coats with synthetic fur that were bought from Israeli fashion companies look as if they were made of real fur. The spokesman for the Society contacted Television Network Channel 10, which in turn then decided to cooperate with the Society in the investigation.

The investigator from Channel 10 went to a number of big fashion chains and took samples from some clothing items that supposedly contained synthetic fur. The samples were taken to a laboratory of forensic science, where it was determined with certainty that two coats from two different chains contained fur fibers of animals – dog fur and rabbit fur. These clothing items were produced in China. There they cruelly slaughter about 75 million animals (seventy-five million, or: 75,000.000) in the fur industry.

The report of this investigation, which was broadcast Saturday night on the program of Ashrat Kotler-BenGal, presented the reaction of the fashion chains, who claimed that the clothing was ordered from manufacturers in China to be made of synthetic fur. The companies decided to investigate the issue and in the meantime they have removed the clothing suspected of containing animal fur from the shelves.

At this time the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Israel, is working on a bill to prohibit the importing of fur into Israel, with the goal of decreasing the suffering of millions of animal throughout the world.
